How to Upgrade from Boilerman Grade 2 to Grade 1 in Malaysia

Experienced boiler operator upgrading skills

Many boiler operators start at Grade 2 and later aim to upgrade to Grade 1 so they can work with larger, higher-pressure boilers and take on more responsibility. Here is how the upgrade path generally works in Malaysia.

Step 1: Build Experience at Grade 2

Start by mastering Grade 2 fundamentals — safe operation, monitoring and boiler-room safety — and gaining real operating experience.

Step 2: Strengthen Advanced Knowledge

Progress to Grade 1 training, which covers advanced boiler operation, combustion and efficiency, control systems and supervisory safety responsibility.

Step 3: Prepare for Grade 1 Competency

Please note: Use DOSH-aligned competency preparation to get ready for the Grade 1 boilerman competency requirements. Training provides DOSH-aligned boilerman competency preparation and does not, by itself, provide or guarantee DOSH certification — certification is subject to the assessment and requirements of DOSH, Malaysia.

Step 4: Keep Learning

Upgrading is a step in a longer career. Continued learning keeps your skills sharp and your operations safe.
